Nintendo has officially announced the end of its Gold Points rewards program, with the loyalty service set to conclude on March 25, 2025. The program, which has allowed Nintendo Switch users to earn discounts on digital purchases through the Nintendo eShop and official website, will stop awarding points for new purchases after this date.
From March 25th, it will no longer be possible to earn My Nintendo Gold Points. Existing Gold Points can still be used after this date on #NintendoSwitch #eShop within 12 months of being earned.

According to Nintendo’s official announcement, existing Gold Points will remain valid for 12 months from their earning date, even after the program’s discontinuation. Digital pre-orders placed before 9:30 PM PDT on March 24, 2025, will still qualify for Gold Points, with rewards being awarded the day after payment processing.
For physical games, Nintendo will continue to honor Gold Points redemption for titles released on or before March 24, 2025, subject to the standard one-year redemption window from the game’s original release date. However, physical games released after this cutoff date will not be eligible for the rewards program.
The company has also confirmed that Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers will not be compatible with upcoming Switch 2 games. While Nintendo hasn’t provided specific reasoning for the program’s discontinuation, the timing coincides with the anticipated launch of their next-generation console, the Switch 2.
Nintendo enthusiasts can look forward to learning more about the new console during the upcoming Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 4, with global hands-on experience events planned to showcase the device. The company has clarified that while Gold Points earnings will cease, the Platinum Points program will continue to operate beyond March 24, 2025.
