The life of the Nintendo 3DS is now well and truly over in Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and UAE, with the closure of the limited eShops in the affected regions. The full notice, as posted by Maxsoft on Facebook, reads as follows:
In Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and UAE, limited Nintendo eShops functions has been available for the Nintendo 3DS family systems. Those limited Nintendo eShops will close on July 31, 2020, and users in the affected regions will no longer be able to access the Nintendo eShops. We encourage the users to take any such actions before the closure date to update your software or to redownload any previously preinstalled software if necessary. We would like to truly thank everyone for using the limited Nintendo eShops and for being such great fans of Nintendo.
What to do
We recommend that you take the following action on your Nindendo 3DS before the closure date of July 31, 2020:
- Redownload any previously-preinstalled software from the Nintendo eShop.
- Check the Nintendo eShop for any available updates to software you own.
The Nintendo Switch has since soared ahead as a popular console for both home use and portability, gaining plenty of ports of critically acclaimed games on the platform. In any case, get your game updates for your 3DS devices before the limited eShops closure prior to 31 July 2020.
