NieR Reincarnation released a new promotional video, as well as announcing a closed beta test. There’s no date yet for its release, but the newest video does reveal more gameplay. Check out the video:
We’ve already seen the whole exploration and running, and now, we get to see what looks like some form of battle system, maybe turn-based, maybe real time. Each character shown appears to have two skills, and what we can assume will have different classes, battling strange creatures in waves.
Looking closer, the skills do have their cooldowns, indicated by the border around the skill. There will be an auto battle function, and faster battle speed. The right most button may be a summon, but it wasn’t shown off in this video. The left most side indicates the creatures on the field, their HP dropping as you attack them.
The exploration isn’t limited to the main girl either, showing other characters walking across a 2D plane instead of the 3D shown off so far. These are probably the story sections for the characters in between the fights. There might be two parts to the game: the battle and 2D story segments, and the 3D exploration with the other girl. Some art of the characters have also been shared:
Applications for the NieR Reincarnation closed beta test will be open until 26 July 2020, 23:59 JST and can be done so through this landing page for Japanese residents and Square Enix members. Dates for the test are subject to change but is tentatively for 29 July 13:00 to 5 August 2020, 12:59 JST. 10,000 players each for iOS and Android (total 20,000) will be accepted into the beta.
