NieR: Automata will be getting an anime project! That’s pretty much all we know about the thing for now, with no indication of who will be producing it, release window, and whatever tangible information you’d want. You can check out the teaser trailer below:
A newly established website alongside a Twitter account can be yours to pore over in lieu of any further information. We can see 2B being really prominent on the promotional teasers, but whether the anime will adapt the game and decide on some canon ending, or be a prequel can only be up to the whims of the overlord Yoko Taro, surely.
It’s been 5 years since the release of the original game (2017) that has sold over 6 million copies. Today is, in fact, celebrating that five year anniversary of its launch in Japan. Since then, we’ve celebrated the 10th anniversary of the series, saw the release of NieR: Replicant‘s “update”, a mobile game in Re[in]carnation, and supposedly, the series would be essentially “finished” if someone had his way. We can likely expect some typical witticism and wise words from the man himself in short order.
In any case, the NieR: Automata anime is a thing, so stay tuned.
