While an action RPG series which features fantasy sword fighting may seem like a weird choice as a collaboration with a battle royale shooter, there has been weirder collabs in the world of mobile gaming in the past. It’s also worth noting that bullet hell elements are present in both NieR titles, so it may be interesting to see how traditional firearms fare against magic.
Besides the announcement of the collab, there is not a lot to go by regarding the collab. A release date has not been revealed, so it appears that players will have to wait for more updates.
The NieR series is no stranger to collabs, frequently appearing in other mobile gacha games, primarily Square Enix’s own mobile games such as NieR ReIncarnation, SINoALICE and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. However, it’s surprising that a battle royale shooter like PUBG New State will feature the NieR series.
Recently, it was also announced that NieR: Automata will be getting its own anime. You can read more about it here.
