The Ni no Kuni mobile game, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, will begin pre-registrations on 14 April. There will be a TV commercial featuring Joe Hisaishi that will also air at some point, presumably alongside the opening of pre-registrations for Cross Worlds. It will feature the theme song of Ni no Kuni, so look out for it. The regions that will have pre-registrations for the game are Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, and can be done through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and the official website, which can be found here.
Following the isekai trope present in the series, players assume the role of a character who finds himself transported to another world. However, Cross Worlds features a virtual reality game-setting as the player is a beta tester for the game “Soul Divers”.
As of yet, there is no confirmation of a potential global release, so international players will have to continue hoping and keep an eye out. The projected release date is for Q2 2021, pending any delays. There’ll be exploration, capturing of creatures, a level of base building besides the whole real time action combat. You can check out an initial rundown of the demo here, to see if it interests you. Perhaps there’ll be a beta period? We’ll find out.
