Ahead of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds launching in Chinese, Japanese and Korean, the Japanese side had a preview livestream showing off some gameplay and features before it becomes available in select countries on 10 June 2021.
You’ll be able to create your character from five different classes – provisionally referred to as Rogue, Destroyer, Witch, Engineer, Swordsman – with customizable features including hairstyle, hair colour, eye colour and so forth. You play as a character who enters a virtual reality game, immediately thrown into a war you know nothing about. The game properly begins when you are forcibly moved away from the scene, whereupon the tutorials will begin. Skills have their various cooldowns, as you might expect. You’ll be able to have pets, known as “Imagen”, to accompany you, automatically attacking your foe in battle.
There are co-op raid battles where there are four difficulty levels to choose from, with up to five members in a party. At the end of a successful battle, you can see how much DPS you’ve done.
This game features large scale PVP, where up to 100 other people can clash, provisionally known as the Battlefield of Relics. Two teams will compete for territories which will gain them points. In the map, there are monsters that can appear for you to defeat. Otherwise, you can deploy barricades to block off paths from your opponents.
The Cross Worlds gameplay preview looks quite interesting to experience at first glance. For now, there’s nothing yet regarding the game’s global launch though, so the rest of us will have to wait.
