QooApp showed off some Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds demo gameplay from G-STAR 2019! The game is under Netmarble, and is a mobile MMORPG set in the Ni no Kuni universe. It’s developed using Unreal Engine 4. Soundtrack from other titles in the series will be heard in the mobile title.
Five classes are shown off: Witch, Swordsman, Rogue, Engineer, and Destroyer. Select the class you like, with character customization available. Battles occur in real time with action-game style controls. This would make it a pretty brisk and intuitive title to pick up. There will be the main story, alongside side quests. While you do those, players will be able to get over 100 “Imazens”, or collectible monsters. These can be used in combat, presumably fighting alongside you.
Those familiar with mobile MMORPGs should find Cross Worlds similar. Most quests have an optional auto-walk feature. Combat is said to be simple to get used to, with up to 6 equippable skills to your skill bar. As you can see, the art style sticks true to the console games. The world is vast, and is waiting for you to explore.
Details from Gematsu say that players can also expect to build and develop their kingdom with various interactable objects or animals for you to bring back. As the story goes, you’re a player for “Project N”, a virtual reality game by Mirai Company, a major corporation in “Ichi no Kuni”. The game’s world is “Ni no Kuni”. It would seem that circumstances have led you to emerge in a parallel world where “Ni no Kuni” exists…
So, what do you think? Ni no Kuni: Cross World‘s demo certainly looks quite promising. Considering how popular the console games are, a global release is possibly safe to assume will be coming in the future. It is planned to release in Japan for iOS and Android in the second half of 2020.
