Newsletter vol. 10 – Behold the Enhanced Edition

As we’ve finally hit double digits on the GamerBraves Newsletter, we’ll be critiquing the phenomenon that is the enhanced edition of games. This includes remasters and remakes—basically re-releases of a game onto a new platform (not to be confused with deluxe editions or collector’s editions announced during release).

Video games are both an art form and a business. The decision to release an improved version of an old game can be something that fans either love or hate.

A well-timed remaster can renew interest in a dying franchise, but it can also sometimes seem like a cheap cash grab when executed poorly. We’ll be taking a look at some famous (and infamous) examples and what does it mean for the video game industry as a whole.
