Koei Tecmo‘s Uncharted Waters series will be adapted into a new mobile game through Tencent Games. Dubbed Uncharted Waters: Lord of the Sea, players in China would be able to expect the typical seafaring experience this series brings, along with a degree of port / base management and naval warfare through Tencent acquiring the license. The official website is already live, with pre-registrations looking to be already open here.
As mentioned, the game is a simulation series dealing with sailing and trading, with a theme centered around the Age of Discovery. As captain or commodore, you can take your fleet from port to port – all the while as you trade, treasure hunt, and explore the titular uncharted waters, depicted with high historical accuracy; from countries, to cities, vessels and weapons according to the real world timeline. The series has mostly utilized a loose plot for more story-oriented players to follow in the games.
The latest of the series, Uncharted Waters VI, was released solely for mobile devices, so it’s not a huge stretch to see more games be available on the platform. Since it’s a more niche series, an international release for this one is probably unlikely.
