New Tales of Game Hinted for 30th Anniversary

Next year, we will be celebrating the Tales of franchise’s 30th anniversary and Bandai Namco has hinted at a new game being developed. The latest entry into the series was Tales of Arise, of which was released in September 2021. It has sold 3 million copies in February 2024.

At a recent shareholders meeting, a company representative said that “there are things I can’t reveal at the moment, but please look forward to upcoming announcements”. While they never explicitly said it, we can speculate that it might be a Tales of game but we’ll never know until the announcement is made.

The first game was released in 1995, titled Tales of Phantasia for the SNES. Each entry is subsequently different from each other with their own plot and characters but the gameplay and themes always stayed the same. Since then there are a total of seventeen main titles, multiple spin-off games and supplementary media in the form of manga series, anime series, and audio dramas.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Bandai Namco decides to release another Tales of game during the 30th anniversary but who’s to say it might even be one?
