Donuts is developing a completely new title for smartphones, an RPG tentatively titled “DRAGON“. DRAGON will be co-developed by Donuts alongside Hiroshi Moriyama, who has worked on titles such as Castle and Dragon and Dragon League, titles from Asobism. Takehiro Ando is also named as producer. The project is described as Donuts’ “first large-scale 3D development title”. No information regarding the game system or other details have been revealed, but you can check out the teaser visuals for now.
Recruitment is now open for the project, with interested applicants able to check out the website here. The wording suggests besides recruitment, more information about the game will also be released through the website. The RPG will take place in a world of floating islands, and the titular dragons.
The project seems like quite an ambitious one, especially one said to be the company’s first large-scale 3D title. There are positions open across many divisions, including producers, management, planning, art – director, 2D illustrators, 3DCG designers for modelling, motion and effects – engineers, and scenario writer.
Considering the scope, it sounds like it might want to match something like Genshin Impact, intending to provide an experience that no one else has seen before on mobile devices.
