A “new school RPG” has been teased to be coming from former Shin Megami Tensei and Megami Tensei staff. The Famitsu teaser for this “school RPG” only identifies said former (Shin) Megami Tensei staff by the initials S, I, M, and N, with details to follow on 10 June. Accordingly, publisher, developer and platform were not announced.
Going by this vague premise, it’s possible the result could be something similar to how the Caligula Effect came about, itself having Tadashi Satomi – previously involved in the first 3 Persona games prior to Persona 3 – and composer Tsukasa Masuko, who is a former Megami Tensei composer. Caligula2 will be launching 24 June 2021 for Japan, while the Traditional Chinese and Korean version will arrive 24 September 2021 with English available in a future patch.
Besides that, Tadashi Satomi is also on the D_CIDE TRAUMEREI team, a multimedia project that will launch its mobile game and anime in Summer 2021. Now, this game also involves a school, and looks to be an RPG as well. Considering its multimedia nature, there is a possibility, however slight, that it could be a console version for this project.
In any case, more details can be expected in next week’s issue of the Famitsu magazine, so keep an eye out.
