Haven Entertainment Studios, a newly founded independent video game developer, is working on an unannounced IP for PlayStation.
The founder and CEO of this new Montreal-based studio is Jade Raymond. Previously, Raymond also founded Ubisoft Toronto and Motive Studios. Throughout her long and decorated career in the industry, Raymond is renowned for her work on the Assassin’s Creed series and Watch Dogs. However, due to the abrupt shuttering of Google Stadia’s in-house development studios last month, Raymond and many of her colleagues found themselves unemployed.
Other than Raymond, no other staff for Haven Studios has been named thus far. However, it is likely that most of Raymond’s colleagues will be joining her in this new venture.
In regards to what Haven Studios aims to achieve, Raymond stated the following on Playstation.Blog:
“We want to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community. We want to pour our passion into a project. We want to make something wondrous for people to experience. Because we believe in the power of games to bring joy to people’s lives. And Sony does, too. Their commitment to excellence is unmatched. It’s why I couldn’t be happier for their backing and support.”
