The development team has leveraged next-generation PBR (Physically Based Rendering) technology to create what they describe as an “overwhelming sense of realism and immersion” through detailed Digimon expressions and an immersive Digital World environment. The game recreates classic Digimon settings including forests, grasslands, deserts, snowy mountains, and ruins within a fantasy-meets-technology aesthetic.
Unlike traditional gacha games, Digimon: Source Code features a DigiEgg hatching system for acquiring Digimon, which the developers claim significantly reduces the burden on players while making collection more enjoyable. Players can obtain DigiEgg resources for free by exploring the game map, making it easier to complete the Pokédex-style collection without mandatory spending.

Combat introduces an innovative “Overload” system that allows players to unleash explosive Digimon powers at strategic moments, with the potential to instantly defeat opponents. The game also features cooperative techniques that can be triggered by combining certain Digimon during battles. The free-to-play title boasts no stamina limits for exploration, allowing for unrestricted gameplay. Additionally, players can participate in casual activities like fishing, cooking, and gathering resources throughout the map, with hidden content promised in various locations.

Moreover, for Mega evolution fans, the game advertises the ability to create teams featuring popular Mega forms like WarGreymon, Rosemon, and MetalGarurumon without requiring purchases.
