Netmarble Games being one of the giant game makers of South Korea had recently revealed their upcoming line-up of games in-development for 2018 during their 4th NTP (Netmarble Together with Press) event. The founder of the company Bang Jun-hyuk is taking initiatives to push the games industry to compete with Chinese game makers. Thus during the event, they had revealed 8 games that are in-development, planned for release in 2018.
Blade & Soul: Revolution
Blade & Soul: Revolution was first announced on November 2017. The game developed with Unreal Engine 4 will be a mobile MMORPG that was made based off the PC version. So players can expect to find familiar gameplays on mobile from the PC with a new feature, a territory war. Since then, not much details were revealed yet but it was stated that the game is still in-development and should be released this year.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
The Harry Potter franchise has been huge where there’s even a Harry Potter fun-land, a place you can spout magical incantations and not be looked weird. But besides that, we all know that Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery was developed by Jam City which has already soft-launched in selected countries. However in the 4th NTP event, it was announced that Netmarble will be publishing the game in South Korea with license rights from Warner Bros.
Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments RPG
You heard that right! The Seven Deadly Sins is getting a mobile RPG based off their latest season of the animated series. The game will put players playing the main protagonist, Meliodas, taking on tasks as seen in the anime. Of course there will be other side quests as well since it is going to be made as an RPG. However there’s not much info released upon how the actual gameplay would be like.
King of Fighters: All Star
The King of Fighters: All Star is a game by SNK but it was never published though it was revealed back in early 2017. Sadly it was announced along with another KoF game for the mobile, King of Fighters: World back then. Which unfortunately drowned King of Fighters: All Star to the point where no one had actually talked about it even though it was revealed in an SNK event in South Korea. However now Netmarble has revealed it as part of their games line-ups to be published this year in 2018.
StoneAge MMORPG
You might have heard of StoneAge Begins that was also released by Netmarble. The dinosaur catching, training and battle game was released since 2016 and it is still in the market. Now with another title based on the IP, StoneAge MMORPG, will be more than that. Although there was no info on the game, the game is meant to bring nostalgia to old players of the title in a massive world of dinosaurs.
Seven Knights II For Nintendo Switch
Seven Knights is one of the popular RPG for the mobile by Netmarble and they had revealed the making of Seven Knights II for the mobile back in October 2017. This time instead of a normal mobile RPG where you tap your heroes to unleash their ultimate skills, it will be a mobile MMORPG where players get to play characters from the original Seven Knights lore. However Netmarble wishes to extend the game onto the console platform as well starting with the Nintendo Switch.
Icarus M
Another mobile MMORPG that was revealed back in Netmarble’s G-Star 2017 event, Icarus M, will be slated for 2018. Based off the PC version, Riders of Icarus, the game will feature all the beautiful action and animal riding (if you’re into that). Developed with Unreal Engine 4, it looks really beautiful for the mobile as seen in the demo during the G-Star convention. Like most MMORPGs, there will be multiplayer boss raiding and PvP. While the game has already shown us gameplays since 2017, we are still expecting for an official release date of the game.
BTS World: Cinematic Game
For those K-fans out there, here’s an eye-candy for you! Netmarble may have answered some of your prayers over the months and they had finally initiated it with BTS (also known as Bangtan Boys) to collaborate for a mobile game. The game will feature the band (of course) in a cinematic world. Players will be raising the BTS boys (probably as their manager) which is accompanied with over 10,000 photos and 100 video clips only available in the game. BTS actually took the photos, acted in videos and recorded the OST just for the game. So clench those cheeks girls and be patient. *wink
Now here’s the kicker – all these games are slated to be released this year, though no mentions of dates and months. As mobile games releases are usually announced within the week of its release, it may even be delayed if the company stumbled upon unforeseen issues. So let’s hope that there will be no issues during development that could hinder the release and wait for more updates!
