Netflix has officially announced that its animated adaptation of the popular video game franchise Devil May Cry will premiere on April 3, 2025. The series, which has been in development since 2018, is being produced in collaboration with Capcom and brings together notable industry talent.
The project is helmed by Adi Shankar, known for his executive producer role on Netflix’s successful Castlevania adaptation and Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. Animation duties are being handled by Studio Mir, the team behind The Legend of Korra.
Along with the release date announcement, Netflix unveiled the series’ opening sequence, which features a distinct stylized animation approach and a Limp Bizkit soundtrack. The main series itself will maintain a more traditional anime aesthetic. Veteran voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch has been confirmed as the voice of Dante, the series’ protagonist.
The story follows Dante, a half-human, half-demon who runs the Devil May Cry demon hunting agency. When a mysterious woman named Trish informs him about the impending return of the underworld’s king, Dante must confront the demon responsible for his family’s death, armed with his father’s sword Force Edge and his signature guns, Ebony & Ivory.

This marks the second animated adaptation for the franchise, following the 2007 MADHOUSE production that ran for 12 episodes. While the new series has revealed its protagonist’s iconic character design – complete with his signature red jacket and distinctive style – detailed plot information remains under wraps as the premiere date approaches.
