Fans of Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma have plenty to be excited for today. Netflix just dropped a new trailer for Dragon’s Dogma, giving us a first look at the video game adaptation.
Below is Netflix’s official summary of the show’s plot:
After losing his pregnant wife to a dragon, Ethan sets out to find and kill it once and for all. A pawn (Hannah) appears by his side, and explains that he is now the Arisen. Along the way, he is challenged by different demons and monsters, each representing the seven deadly sins. Little does he know, that with every monster he conquers, he is slowly losing his humanity…
While the setting and the world are the same as that of the game, the show’s plot is new to it. Concepts like Pawns and the Arisen are all from Dragon’s Dogma, however the game did not include avenging the death of a dead wife.
The trailer shows off plenty of cool monster fights, from skeletons to gryphons to even hydras. Ethan’s main motivation is hunting the dragon that killed his family, but he’s also shown making new allies along the way. However, the trailer teases his humanity itself being in danger of being lost.
We also get a glimpse at Hannah, Ethan’s Pawn. In Dragon’s Dogma, Pawns are emotionless beings that exist to serve the Arisen. It’s not currently known if the show will incorporate the concept of hired Pawns, which are from the game.
The show begins streaming on Netflix September 17th.
