Publisher NetEase Games unveiled Project Mugen, an upcoming open-world RPG for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, iOS, Android, and PC.
NetEase Games’ Project Mugen is an open-world RPG set in a modern metropolis that is coming to the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, iOS, Android, and PC as a full free-to-play title, and the game is currently available for pre-registration. No release date has been announced yet.
About Project Mugen
Project Mugen is a working title that features a vast open world in an urban setting where players get to explore a rich city environment from its neon-lit nightlife to the serene parks.
To make exploration easier, the game will incorporate fast-paced traversal options where every character will have movement of parkour, swinging, and wall-climbing, allowing players to scale skyscrapers and interact with the dynamic environment with their every move.
Some characters will also have their own unique traversal ability such as riding a special war hammer, and players will also be able to intercept and ride various vehicles.
In the battle gameplay, Project Mugen will have a team-based combat with a squad composed of 4 characters, each possessing different abilities that can synergize with one another.
Environmental objects will also be interactable and players can utilize them with the varied city terrain to strategize their combat approach.
Story
Set in a world where urban legends have become reality and humans coexist with the supernatural, players take on the role of an Esper, known as the “Infinite Trigger”.
As the Infinite Trigger, players will be an investigator who traverse through the cities, confronting anomalies and supernatural occurrences that pose a danger to the balance of the world.
Throughout the course of the game, players will get to meet and team up with various Espers, each with their own unique backstories.
Players will get to create unforgettable memories with their companions by battling the Chaos that endangers humanity, diving deep into mysteries, and simply exploring city life.
