Netease Games announced Ego Effect for release in Japan at their Netease Connect 2021 event. While not specified, the game is presumably going to be a mobile title. With the main story written by Yukinori Kitajima – 428: Shibuya Scramble, Senran Kagura – Ego Effect will be an ensemble drama depicting thirteen individuals who find themselves in a future with highly developed artificial intelligence. The game has its official website and Twitter up and running for you guys to stay updated on the project. A teaser trailer and a message from Yukinori Kitajima can be found below:
Though a release date for the game was not given, there will be a serialized comic available through KADOKAWA’s webcomic service, ComicWalker, through June to July to generate more buzz for the game, with details to come later. The official Twitter looks to be gradually teasing the cast of thirteen, who come from a large variety of backgrounds. The future they are in takes place 100 years later, where they find the human race extinct. While they figure out how to return to the past, they will find out what wiped out the human race.
Since this wasn’t revealed at the English showcase for Netease Connect 2021 – much like how the Onmyoji collaborations were also revealed only for China – this game will probably not be available internationally at launch.
