Netflix has announced that a live action movie for the manga series, My Hero Academia, is in the works.
The live action film will be produced by Legendary Entertainment and will have Joby Harold on board as the writer for its screenplay and Shinsuke Sato as its director. No other production crew for the film have been announced as of yet.
To get you familiarised with the current crew, Joby Harold previously worked as the Executive Producer for Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, John Wick and Edge of Tomorrow. As for Shinsuke Sato, he previously directed the live-action for Inuyashiki and I Am a Hero with the My Hero Academia film being his first English directorial debut.
Legendary Entertainment is an American film production company with recent films including Godzilla vs Kong, Pokemon Detective Pikachu and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Fans have mixed feelings on this announcement given how past records of Netflix’s adaptation like the Cowboy Bebop one has been. However, considering how My Hero Academia is heavily inspired by the western super heroes, there is a high chance it could turn out really well.
My Hero Academia is a manga series by Kohei Horikoshi set in a world where 80 percent of the populace developed powers of their own called “quirk”. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a young man who dreams of becoming a Hero despite being quirkless. After an encounter with the number one hero, All-Might, he is now set on the path to become the next number one hero.
