CloverWorks has announced the release date for the anime adaptation of My Dress Up Darling, as well as the first animated trailer for the rom com.
According to the trailer, My Dress Up Darling will have a release date of January 2022, as part of the winter anime line-up.
The anime was announced several months back, though this new trailer is the first we’ve seen of it in motion.
They’d also previously released a key visual for the anime, as a teaser ahead of the trailer reveal showing Marin dressed as Shizuku, the first major cosplay in the series.
The plot revolves around Kitagawa Marin – an energetic otaku who wants to get into cosplay but can’t sew. She meets Wakana Gojo, a shy introverted boy who likes painting traditional Hina Dolls. Unfortunately, Gojo has a complex about his hobby, due to being made fun of for it when he was younger.
Gojo, who has way more experience in sewing thanks to his doll-making hobby, offers to make the outfits for Marin’s cosplay, setting off their relationship as they explore the world of cosplay and learn more about each other.
For those looking to get into the manga ahead of the anime, the manga was released in English, published by Square Enix. Prior to its official English name, the series was known by its Japanese name, Sono Bisque Doll Wa Koi Wo Suru (The Dress-up Doll That Fell In Love)
