Magic The Gathering (MtG) is launching its MtG Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Expansion next week on the 18th of February, and they sent us some cool goodies to make you feel like a cyberpunk ninja to mark our return to the Kamigawa plane.
The package even comes in a neat little bento-style covering- because who knows when you’re going to bump into a fellow MtG player looking to duel? However, rather than a cute box with sausages cut up into the shape of octopi, you’ll of course find some neat Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty themed goodies on top of the most important gift- some sweet cards.
These goodies consist of a flashlight as well as a neat 3d puzzle- kids of the 90s might remember these as you navigate a tiny ball bearing along the various surfaces of the cube.
The package does also include a strange letter, that even stranger still, is missing letters. By pure coincidence, the missing letters spell EMPEROR MISSING, which you can even check with the UV light they gave to confirm.. Totally a coincidence with nothing to do with the expansion’s story, as follows:
In a city of looming skyscrapers and vibrant cherry blossom trees, cyber ninja Kaito Shizuki searches for the missing Emperor of Kamigawa. With returning Planeswalkers Tamiyo and The Wanderer by his side, Kaito must journey through the neon Undercity to investigate an unfolding mystery; one that threatens the spiritual world of Kamigawa and the delicate balance between soul and machine.
Surely, a coincidence.
Of course, there’s much more to this set than cryptic letters- if you’re not in the mood to build decks from scratch, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty also includes two pre-made Commander Decks, symbolizing the two major themes of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.
The red-green Upgrades Unleashed features the legendary Snake Samurai Chishiro, The Shattered Blade while the white-blue Buckle Up features Kotori, Pilot Prodigy for those who follow the old adage of loving Giant Robots.
There’s also different boxes of boosters you can get depending on your reasons for getting into MtG- there’s the regular Set Boosters for those who just wanna build their dream decks, while the Bundle Booster is great for newcomers with its additional goodies like a 20-sided die for tracking your life. Finally, there’s also the Collector Booster, which features the special cards with extended art in more prominence for all your deck-building needs.
We even did some pulls and got some pretty sweet results:
This pull is pretty solid considering it also includes the gorgeous Ukiyo-E land art, as well as two of the new Saga cards, which let you build your way up to powerful effects every turn.
Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty releases globally on the 18th of February, and you can pick up the expansion from your friendly local game store. Thanks again to Wizards of the Coast for the sweet package, and make sure to pick up some cards for yourself once the expansion launches.
