MSI has officially released their latest entry to the Stealth series, GS75 with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics this January. We are lucky to get our hands on the GS75 8SG model recently and were impressed by its looks, as well as its potential in offering ultimate gaming performance. Here is our MSI GS75 Stealth review, read below for our thoughts about the powerful machine!
The Design
MSI GS75 Stealth comes in a simple yet gorgeous design. Its body is almost all black with golden sides and hinges made out of light aluminium alloy. It is only 2.2kg with dimensions up to 60% smaller than regular 17” laptops, which makes it one of the most lightweight 17” gaming laptops in the market. The immersive 144Hz display is 17.3″ big with a 4-sided thin bezel, offering up to 85% screen-to-body ratio.
Its premium glass touchpad comes with a smooth finish and 35% more surface area compared to other typical gaming laptops. Clicking or scrolling webpage is no doubt easier using the extra-large touchpad. Meanwhile, the per-key RGB keyboard by SteelSeries is beautiful and highly customizable as usual.
The Performance
This sleek, powerful gaming rig features top-notch specifications including an Intel Core i7-8750H processor and a massively big RAM at 16+16GB in total. It also features the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics with Max-Q Design so you can expect it to provide an ultimate laptop gaming experience at ease.
We tried out GS75 Stealth with a few popular PC games such as Battlefield V, Apex Legends, Devil May Cry 5 and The Division 2. All of them run smoothly at highest graphics settings, while Battlefield V still manages to run perfectly with Ray-Tracing On.
Benchmarks
- 3D Mark
GS75 8SG manages to get 6,489 for Graphics score and 37-42 FPS in both graphics tests. While for the CPU score, it gets 5,912 as a result and about 20 FPS on the CPU test. The overall score of 6,395 is quite an impressive result compared to other gaming laptops.
- PCMark 10
4,902 is a decent score for PCMark 10 test. GS75 8SG gets 8,485 for App Start-up Score and 6,283 for Digital Content Creation score, which indicates that it is an ideal machine for multitasking and creating digital content.
The Verdict
The elegant design of MSI GS75 8SG makes a good first impression, while the gaming performance impressed us furthermore. You won’t have to worry about not being able to run games at ultra HD graphics on it. It might get a little bit overheated after playing games at high resolution for a prolonged period, but gladfully its gaming performance wouldn’t be affected and the frame rate maintains stable.
It is a decent gaming laptop with a lot of potentials yet no obvious weakness. Although it is priced at RM14,599 (which might be too expensive for some), it really worth more than its price. If you are interested, you can visit the official site for more details.
