MSI first announced GE75 Raider a few weeks ago, and we were highly anticipating its launch as it is one of the best MSI gaming laptops to date. Now GE75 Raider has arrived in our office, of course we can’t wait to get our hands on it so here is our MSI GE75 Raider review. Check out our thoughts on the machine below!
The Design and Display
Inspired by the force and speed of a dragon, GE75 Raider comes in the one-of-a-kind “3D Dragon Spine” design. The outer cover is featuring a reflective diamond-cut design with two red muscular lines (the dragon spines) that extend across the cover and connects to the rear exhaust vents. The MSI logo on the cover lights up when the machine is switched on too. While on the base, it features a stylish asymmetric pattern inspired by cosmological warship on both the surface and the rubber pads.
Its IPS-level display is a massive one at 17.3-inch, along with 5.7mm thin-bezel and an 82% screen-to-body ratio that offers a wider display compared to its previous gen. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time as well, which means you can undoubtedly enjoy smooth gameplay with vibrant visuals on its display.
Some of you might have faced an awkward situation where you can’t find your laptop’s USB port in the dark. GE75 Raider brings an MSI exclusive technology that lights up the USB port in red, so that you can find the USB port easily especially in the dark!
Just like many other gaming laptops, the Raider is having the gorgeous RGB-backlit keyboard too and it is with silver lining printed keys. It even comes with Per-Key RGB customization, allowing you to program each key using the SteelSeries Engine 3 application as well as receiving real-time game stats through your keyboard. The SteelSeries Engine 3 also features a couple of keyboard configurations such as Horizontal Wave, Disco, Roulette and Aqua.

Benchmarks
- UserBenchMark
MSI GE75 Raider scored an outstanding 91% in gaming, proven its ability to handle recent 3D games at high resolutions and ultra level details. Its 16GB RAM is more than sufficient for multitasking and heavy gaming, you can expect it to run photos or video editings without an issue too.
- Final Fantasy XV Benchmark
Expectedly, the GE75 Raider got a pretty high score for the Final Fantasy XV Benchmark test under 1440p and high-quality graphics settings. Some minor lags do occur at scene switching, but the game basically runs smoothly during the test.
- PC Mark 10
The GE75 Raider got an impressive score of 4702 in our PC Mark 10 test as well. It scored 6917 for App Start-up Score and a fairly high score of 5819 for Digital Content Creation. We haven’t encountered any problem editing or rendering videos using the machine, so you can safely assume that this machine could handle these difficult tasks at ease.
Gaming Performance
The machine is powered by 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card, it is definitely a waste if you didn’t play games on it. We tried out the GE75 Raider with the popular PC games including Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Final Fantasy XV, Monster Hunter World and PUBG.
Unfortunately, we experienced a few delays while battling in Final Fantasy XV at its best settings, though its framerate is always around 40-60. But enjoying other games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Monster Hunter World and PUBG have been a seamless and joyful experience thanks to its 144Hz display and powerful specifications.
Conclusion
Featuring a hell lot of great specifications and stylish designs, MSI GE75 Raider is worth its price. Nothing is better than enjoying a smooth gaming experience on the 17″ thin-bezel vibrant display! The GeForce GTX 1070 version of GE75 Raider is priced at RM9499 (about 2,270USD), while the GeForce GTX 1060 variant costs you RM7999 (about 1912USD).
