The Game Awards 2018 premiered the trailer of Mortal Kombat 11 earlier today. The audience cheered even though they did not expect the trailer to appear on the show.
Despite the sheer violence of the trailer, The Game Awards 2018 had no issues with premiering it. The trailer shows Raiden and Scorpion fighting in a bloody battle before another Scorpion joined the fray. Needless to say, the trailer became rather interesting at the appearance of the 2nd Scorpion.
According to the official description, Mortal Kombat 11 will feature customizable characters. The concept is similar to that of NetherRealms’s Injustice 2. The game also boasts new graphical improvements over Mortal Kombat X, showcasing every skull-shattering and eye-popping moments.
Mortal Kombat 11 will pick off following the ending of Mortal Kombat X. In the prequel, Raiden warned the new rulers of Netherrealm, Liu Kang and Kitana, that he will no longer merely defend Earthrealm. Instead he will actively pursue all invaders. This may explain why Raiden shoots red lightning in the trailer, signifying his anger and need of vengeance.
Mortal Kombat 11 will launch on 24 April 2019. Interested fans can now pre-order the game. As a reward, players who pre-order the game will receive Shao Khan, the main antagonist of older Mortal Kombat games. PC players can pre-order on Steam while players of other platforms can pre-order from select retailers.
