Yakuza Online for smartphones and PC was announced by Sega last month but not much detail is disclosed at that moment. During the recent TGS 2017, the first screenshots of the game are shown at the Yakuza booth and it looks like a simple turn-based card battle game:
Yakuza Online is teased as a dramatic conflict RPG, so we could expect the game to be emphasising more on the storyline. From all we know, the game is set in Kamurocho right after events in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. The protagonist – Kasuga Ichiban is free from a 17-year prison sentence, wishing to restore the district to its former glory from the mob and the government.
Yakuza Online will be available in Japan sometime in 2018 as a free-to-play title with the obligatory micro-transactions.
