Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will be launching for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One platforms come 13 November 2020, and more details have been released ahead of that! Be sure to also read our interview with game producer Ichiro Hazama of Square Enix, and co-director Masanobu Suzui of Indieszero for even more context here.
Let the power of music lead you to the worlds contained inside memories. Guided by melody, visit different worlds by Gummi Ship.
In each world, relive memories as you collect Rhythm Points, The mysterious power of melody spins and weaves memories into worlds where past adventures spring to life again.
Players will be able to switch between the teams they’ve unlocked at any time. At present, we know of two:
- Team Classic featuring Donald, Sora and Goofy
- Team Days, with Xion, Roxas and Axel
Press buttons as they flow towards the bottom of your screen in time to get an Excellent or Good rating. A Miss will deplete your HP and causes a game over once it reaches zero. The button controls can be set during Track Selection:
- Basic Style
- Standard controls with multiple buttons
- One Button Style
- All actions will be performed by a single button, for those who prefer to concentrate on the rhythm without worrying about controls
- Performer Style
- Uses more buttons than usual, for those who want a challenge with complex controls and button combinations
Travel through the worlds in World Tour with three difficulties: Beginner, Standard and Proud. Play unlocked songs from World Tour in the track selection. Rewatch story movies in the Museum.
Three Stage Types will be available:
- Field Battle
- Run on a musical score and defeat enemies in time with the rhythm with abilities or mid-air attacks with past memories as your backdrop
- Memory Dive
- Dive into memorable cutscenes and music videos and hit the targets in sync
- Boss Battle
- Enter target commands to defeat bosses and dodge attacks by hitting targets shrouded in darkness
In multiplayer battles, Tricks will be usable to turn the tides against your opponents! Swap your HP or hide the rhythm timing guides to gain the advantage. You can also compete against AI opponents, increasing your rank with every 3 out of 5 opponents defeated to achieve Platinum 1, the highest rank.
