Capcom has revealed that the total worldwide shipments and digital sales for Monster Hunter: World has topped 25 million.
In a new report by Capcom, the sales of Monster Hunter: World has surpassed 25 million units sold globally, setting a new record-high for single-title sales by the company.
The sales milestone announcement was made to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter series.
This 25 million sold figure includes the sales of the Monster Hunter World base game along with the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition, which included the DLC expansion.
As of December 2023, Monster Hunter World had sold 19.6 million copies, but by including Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Eiditon, the numbers rose up to 24.1 million, which has now surpassed over 25 million figures.
Moreover, Capcom also noted that the cumulative sales of the Monster Hunter series have exceeded 97 million units as of December 31, 2024.
“With Monster Hunter: World, Capcom drove the Monster Hunter series to global-brand status with a series-first worldwide simultaneous launch and international promotional activities, establishing the game as Capcom’s best-selling title of all time within a month of its release,” said Capcom.
“In the six years since the game’s launch, Capcom has continued to promote digital sales, leading Monster Hunter: World to achieve a new Capcom all-time-record of 25 million cumulative units sold. ”
“Further, in December of last year, Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Wilds, garnering broad attention with the announcement that the latest title in the series is scheduled for release in 2025.”
After a long wait, fans were greeted with the announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds during The Game Awards 2023 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
To commemorate the reveal, Capcom initiated the Return to World campaign, giving Monster Hunter World a generous discount and inviting players to re-experience the game.
This led to the game seeing a significant rise in concurrent players, hitting more than 131,000 concurrent players on Steam alone.
