The Monster Hunter title has introduced many weapons. They each form a generation with it. We have the 1st gen weapons which are the Greatsword, Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Lance, Hammer, Light Bowgun and Heavy Bowgun. The generation of games are from Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter Freedom that were released back in 2004 and 2005. The 2nd gen consisted of the Longsword, Gunlance, Hunting Horn, Bow. The games associated with that generation are Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite which were released in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Then in the 3rd gen, they brought in the Switch Axe which was in Monster Hunter Tri and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and lastly they added the Insect Glaive and Charge Blade in the 4th generation. The 4th gen is from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate to Monster Hunter Generation Ultimate.
First introduced in Monster Hunter 4 back in September 2013 , insect glaives were an interesting addition as it utilised an insect or ‘kinsect’ to dish out some attacks and collect essence upon returning.
It is a double-ended rod that can perform quick and fluid attacks.
Moving on we have the charge blade. Making its entry into Monster Hunter 4 as well in 2013, this weapon has a sword mode and axe mode.
Both of these weapons while old are still fun to use with mechanics such as the wirebug moves in Monster Hunter Rise. Its been more than 10 years since the last weapon introduction and fans can agree that they would want something refreshing in the weapon variety in future Monster Hunter games.
