Capcom’s latest entry in their monster-hunting franchise has achieved a remarkable milestone in sales, with Monster Hunter Wilds surpassing 10 million units sold globally since its February 28, 2025 release. To celebrate this achievement, game director Yuya Tokuda released a message to the community detailing upcoming content and addressing player feedback.
Monster Hunter Wilds has set a company record for first-month sales, thanks in part to its simultaneous release across different platforms. Players have embraced the title’s new features, including the innovative Focus Mode mechanic and seamless transitions between settlements and ecosystems, creating what Capcom describes “as an even more immersive gaming experience.”
Director Tokuda announced several upcoming free updates to reward the growing player base. The First Free Title Update, arriving April 4, introduces fan-favorite monster Mizutsune, unlockable at Hunter Rank 21, with its Tempered variant available at HR 41. The update also adds the Grand Hub, a new multiplayer gathering location, and allows repeated hunts of High-Rank Zoh Shia.
As #MHWilds passes 10 million copies sold, Director Yuya Tokuda has a message to share directly with the community, with details on what’s next for the game, including:

The End of May Update will introduce Tempered versions (★8) of Gore Magala and apex predators from each locale: Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad. A Second Free Title Update is planned for summer, with details to be announced. Additionally, a limited-time event featuring Arch-Tempered Rey Dau will begin April 30th, with a Free Challenge Quest following on May 7th. This high-difficulty hunt will be available to players at HR50 or above.
Tokuda also addressed player feedback regarding weapon balance, noting that adjustments will be implemented gradually with upcoming updates. Specific changes mentioned include upward adjustments for the Hammer weapon class, downward adjustments to the “overtuned” Corrupted Mantle which has dominated the meta, and corresponding upward adjustments to other Mantles to improve build diversity. As a token of appreciation for the milestone, Capcom plans to release a free commemorative item pack for all players, with details to be shared at a later date.
