Capcom has officially announced that they will release Monster Hunter Wilds, the next major entry in the popular Monster Hunter series, globally on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The release date was revealed during a recent State of Play event, along with a new trailer showcasing gameplay and story elements.
The trailer introduced the game’s flagship monster, Arkveld, described as a creature from a long-extinct species with uniquely shaped, chain-like wings. Arkveld appears to play a central role in the game’s story, which revolves around the formation of the Forbidden Lands Research Commission.
Monster Hunter Wilds will feature new locales, including the Scarlet Forest, known for its red-tinted rivers and dynamic environmental changes. The game introduces new monsters such as Uth Duna, a Leviathan-type creature, and Quematrice, a Brute Wyvern with flame-based attacks. The game’s story follows a newly formed Research Commission investigating a mysterious monster known as the “White Wraith” and attempting to rescue a group called “the Keepers.” In addition, players will join one of several units, each consisting of a Hunter, Handler, Smithy, and Palico.
Pre-orders for Monster Hunter Wilds are now available, with bonus content offered for early purchases. Moreover, Capcom will release the game in multiple editions, including a Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition with cosmetic DLC, and a Premium Deluxe Edition featuring additional DLC packs planned for release through Summer 2025.
