Capcom dropped a very hype trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds yesterday during State of Play and the new character Gemma already got the fans rowdy in excitement.
With every big Monster Hunter entry comes a new cast of NPCs and in Monster Hunter Wilds, we got to meet Gemma, our new Smithy who will be joining along our hunting adventures and crafting us fancy monster hats.
Of course, it is not rare for people to go wild and crazy for attractive fictional characters and Gemma certainly falls under the category of hawt. But this is Monster Hunter we are talking about, where fans usually get more excited for either the large vicious beasts or the next crazy anime maneuver they could do.
Sure, there are a lot of discussions on other topics relating to the new Monster Hunter Wilds trailer online, but Gemma’s beautiful freckled face has no doubt been popping up a lot on Twitter and the game’s Reddit.
After her reveal, a lot of artists have already gone hard at work and released a bunch of fan art of her.

One notable element of Gemma that pushes her to her newfound popularity is no doubt her general design theme – the “mechanic lady”, which is a design direction that some other highly popular video game ladies also share such as Cindy from Final Fantasy XV, Nico from Devil May Cry V, and Panam from Cyberpunk 2077.
More notably, the series has already gotten a character with a similar design theme – Minayle from Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Minayle too got the internet into a frenzy when she first got revealed, with countless fan art and rather questionable posts about her.
That said, Gemma’s attractiveness aside, another half of the discussions regarding her would likely get old fans of the series rather nostalgic.
When that Monster Hunter Wilds trailer dropped, many fans of the series quickly pointed out the various homage to one of the most popular entries in the series – Monster Hunter 4.
From the sand ships to the commander looking almost exactly like the Ace Lancer of the Ace Hunters, countless discussions were speculating if Gemma is actually a character we had already known from Monster Hunter 4.
The character in question is Little Miss Forge, also a blacksmith, also a blondie. Of course, those aren’t the only elements that sparked the conversation. If you pay attention to Gemma’s overall getup, you can see a lot of little references to the NPCs of Monster Hunter 4.

If you are confused and unfamiliar with the series, NPCs used to be unnamed and only called by their job title. This only started to change in Monster Hunter Rise, the previous entry in the series. With that context, Gemma looks likely to be a grown-up Little Miss Forge.
In Monster Hunter 4, you follow the Caravan on your adventures, and Gemma is literally wearing the jacket that the leader – the Caravaneer, wears. She even has a plush doll of the monster Yian Kut-Ku tied to her waist, which is likely something handmade by the Brachydios-obsessed Guildmarm, the quest handler in Monster Hunter 4.
On top of that, as I mentioned, both Gemma and Little Miss Forge are smithy, they both have blonde hair, and blue eyes, and they both wear a pair of goggles at their neck as well as a blue hairband, while also sharing similar pants.
If all the speculation turns out to be true, Monster Hunter 4 fans are no doubt going to have a nostalgia field trip. In fact, this is not the first time where we see a Monster Hunter 4 character returned as the Excitable A-Lister from Monster Hunter World had a surprise reveal as the Ace Cadet all along after the climatic battle against Fatalis in the Iceborne expansion.
He even got an official name reveal, now canonically named Aiden instead of Ace Cadet or Excitable A-Lister – and he even became a star of his own movie Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild, available on Netflix by the way.
