As more Capcom data is released, we’re learning more details about the upcoming Capcom titles. The most recent one to hit the public eye is information about the upcoming Monster-raising RPG Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.
Netizens posted the confidential documents to Chinese forum Baidu, showing off several of the new features coming in the sequel.
One of these features is a new 2v2 battle mode, in which the player can control two players and their “Monstie” companions. There’ll also be online versus, in which you can team up with your friends to battle each other online.
Also in the data was confirmation of Nergigante in the game. The monster is the flagship of Monster Hunter World, and appears in several of the screenshots.
Nergigante is also shown as being capable of being tamed, allowing your character to ride it as a Monstie. This makes it the first elder dragon in the game to do so, although it definitely wasn’t meant to be announced so soon.
Aside from that, the slides show more “Key aims” for the game, including improved lighting effects and more “expansive” environments. While screenshots show these off, the fact they’re listed under “Key Aims” means they’re probably not in-engine, and more of a mockup of what they want to achieve.
The screenshots do also give us a glimpse at more monsters from Monster Hunter World in the game, though, including Paolumu, Kulu Ya Kui and Pukei-Pukei.
Capcom themselves haven’t verified these or any of the other leaks coming out today.
This follows a slew of other Capcom news after the company’s servers were victim to a Ransomware attack. The attack leaked approximately 1TB of data including confidential information on current projects as well as personal employee data.
Capcom has since released another statement on the attack, detailing the nature of all the information compromised. They also say they’re working with authorities to prevent this from happening again in future.
