Developer and publisher Capcom announced that worldwide cumulative sales of the Monster Hunter series surpassed 100 million units.
In commemoration of the action hunting series’ 20th anniversary, the news was announced through a press release on Capcom’s Investor Relation page.
The statement gives special mention to the latest games in the series, Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter: Rise, as well as their respective Iceborne and Sunbreak DLCs, crediting them for the significant contribution to the sales numbers outside of Japan.
Monster Hunter: World and its Iceborne DLC have consecutively sold over 1 million units each year in the seven years since its initial release, totaling to a new Capcom record of 25 million units worldwide when including the shipments of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition.
Meanwhile, Monster Hunter: Rise and its Sunbreak expansion have garnered sales of approximately over 2 million units annually, with the base game surpassing 15 million units in sales cumulatively while those for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak have exceeded 8 million units.
In the press release, Capcom affirms that they will continue to leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.
Monster Hunter: World is playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam while Monster Hunter: Rise can be played on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
