Capcom has announced that the upcoming title update for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak would feature Augments, allowing you to add custom armor skills to your gear.
Dubbed Qurious Crafting, this endgame feature will require new materials introduced in the update to seemingly add armor skills to your set that aren’t natively available to it.
“For the first Title Update, we’re adding new content regarding Anomaly Research. In relation to that, here’s a sneak peek at Qurious Crafting, which allows for armor upgrades. The upgrades utilize new materials that will be added with the update. Please look forward to more news!“, says game director Yoshitake Suzuki.
In the example given, the Malzeno Braces are shown being augmented with one point of Blast Attack- a skill that Malzeno isn’t known for, as well as boosting its defense.

It’s not currently known exactly how Augments will work in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, with some fans hoping that the feature wouldn’t be locked to RNG, similar to farming Talismans in the game.
This is far from the first time Monster Hunter has messed with customizable skills- base Rise also featured Rampage Weapons, while Monster Hunter World featured the Safi’Jiva Awakening system to also build-your-own skillset.
While no specific date has been announced, Capcom had previously teased the first major title update for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak- announcing that it would feature the return of Luscent Nargacuga.
This update would be coming in August according to the previously shown content roadmap.
