Monster Hunter Rise has given more information on the upcoming title at the Nintendo Direct with a new trailer full of information on new monsters, returning ones as well as the game’s main story event, the Rampage.
The game has shown off two new monsters, one of which had been previously teased by equipment sets available in the demo. This is the spider monster Rakna-Kadaki, available in the new volcano environment.
It looks very similar to Nerscylla conceptually, having veils made of its own webbing, Movement wise though, it looks like it shares the same skeleton as Ahtal-Ka, the final boss of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
They also showed off Almudron, the new mud monster that looks like Lagiacrus. It has large mud pillar attacks, so staying off the ground is probably going to be a good bet for dealing with it.
On top of that, other previously-suspected monsters were confirmed to be returning to Monster Hunter Rise at the Nintendo Direct, such as the rock wyvern Basarios and the venomous Volvidon. Basarios’ equipment was available to Hunting Horn players in the Rise demo, so it’s nice to see the monster confirmed.
We also got new details on the Rampage, the big new feature in Rise’s story. It looks like similar stronghold missions where hunters will have access to all sorts of mounted defenses, with the added gimmick of fighting multiple monsters at once. They also showed the first Apex Monsters, though it’s unclear if this is the same Apex mechanic as in 4 Ultimate or if they’re just reusing the name.
