Following our previous coverage of the upcoming ‘Fulminations in the Frost’ major update for Monster Hunter Now, Capcom has put out a trailer and revealed more details about the Dual Blades and Lance.
Apart from confirming other monsters aside from Zinogre, the developers also shared more details about the Dual Blades and Lance for Monster Hunter Now, as well as teasing events for December.
The ‘Fulminations in the Frost’ patch will be coming to Monster Hunter Now on 7th December 2023 and will be the game’s first major update.
Much of the monsters we speculated to come based on the key art hold true, with the exception of Radobaan which came as a surprise.
Since we have talked about the other new monsters extensively in our previous coverage, you can read here for more information on Zinogre, Barioth, and Banbaro.
Radobaan
Radobaan is a close relative of the Uragaan, possessing a similarly stocky frame and iconic enormous chin.
Spending its life in the Rotten Vale, Radobaan’s most distinctive feature is its sticky, tar-like substances that secrete out of its skin, which it uses to adorn its entire body with bones as armored protection.
It has a similar fighting style as the Uragaan, having a love to roll itself into a wheel shape and move around at high speeds as well as slamming its massive chin to cause tremors.
The Bone Hammer Wyvern is also known for its ability to disperse clouded sleeping agents from its underside, so perhaps we will be getting our first batch of Sleep weapons in Monster Hunter Now.
To encounter Radobaan along with the other new additions, the game will be introducing a new Special Quest and upon completing the Urgent Quests listed under them, players will then be able to discover these monsters in the wild.
Dual Blades and Lance
On the game’s official website, Niantic has also outlined more details about the Dual Blades and Lance in Monster Hunter Now, the two returning weapon types that were absent at launch and now coming back.
Dual Blades
The Dual Blades is a weapon type known for its dexterity, essentially hits fast and dodges incoming attacks at a moment’s notice.
As fans would expect, the iteration of the Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Now will still have Demon Mode which is a state that hunters can enter to alter certain attacks and enhance speed in exchange for stamina draining continuously.
The Special Skill for Dual Blades was also revealed and it is the iconic Attack on Titan-style Heavenly Blade Dance introduced in Monster Hunter World.
Special Skill: Heaveny Blade Dance (SP) – A series of fatal attacks that soar high into the sky, slicing through monsters.
Lance
True to the identity of the weapon, performing a Hold Action will allow hunters to guard with the Lance in Monster Hunter Now.
Boasting high defense and great reach, guarding at the right time also allows hunters to initiate a Counter-Thrust, inflicting high damage with minimal vulnerability.
The Special Skill of the Lance is oddly the Dash Attack, a key part of the weapon’s moveset for hunters to choo choo train chase a monster.
Special Skill: Dash Attack – A lethal, full-throttle thrust that penetrates through all defenses.
Upcoming Events
Along with monsters and weapons, Niantic has also unveiled some upcoming events to come in December, including one focusing on Zinogre.
Qualily’s Special Quests
Making a return, Qualily’s Special Quests are time-limited Event Quests that reward hunters with useful materials such as Carpenterbugs, Monster Bones, Dragonite Ore, and Zenny.
