Monster Hunter Now Unveils Lucky Lunar New Year Event with New Dragon Dance Equipment to Forge

Lunar New Year is upon us and Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Now will be celebrating the festival with its own events, equipment, and more.

As detailed on its official website, Monster Hunter Now will have the Lucky Lunar New Year event from February 1, 2024, at 9 AM (local time) until February 15, 2024, at 11:59 PM (local time).

The Lucky Lunar New Year event quests will come in three types, each with a different theme and lasting for a limited time.

Starting on February 1st, the Fortune Gathering quests will commence, tasking us hunters to gather up Fortune Lanterns, event-specific items that come in white, red, and gold with some colors harder to find than others.

Upon completing quests, hunters may be rewarded with the following rewards:

• Hunter Medal: Lucky Lunar New Year Medal
• LNY 2024 Armor Tickets
• Zenny

Another set of quests will be themed around Hunt-a-thons and hunting-specific monsters, and there will be five levels of quests to complete, with a final Urgent Quest to slay the Pink Rathian.

The next batch of quests will start on February 7th, at 9 AM, and will pit players against challenges such as slaying slay 6★ or higher monsters, rewarding rare materials upon completion such as Wyvern Gem Shards.

Furthermore, slaying the aforementioned Pink Rathian on the field or through Hunt-a-thons during the event will grant hunters either an LNY 2024 Hammer Ticket or an LNY 2024 Dual Blades Ticket.

Any monsters defeated at a Hunt-a-thon point will also drop any of the previously mentioned tickets as rewards.

New Year Equipment

This coming Lucky Lunar New Year event will be introducing 3 event-exclusive equipment to craft, a Hammer, a pair of Dual Blades, and a headwear armor piece.

• Dragon Dance Mask (Headwear)
  • Skill: Critical Boost
    • Effect: Increases the damage multiplier of critical hits.
  • Required Ticket: LNY 2024 Armor Ticket
    • Obtainable through completing event quests.
  • Number of tickets required to forge or upgrade: 6

• Lucky Dragon Hammer (Hammer)
  • Element: Dragon
  • Skill: Divine Blessing
    • Effect: Chance of reducing damage received from a monster’s attack.
  • Required Ticket: LNY 2024 Hammer Ticket
    • Obtainable through slaying Pink Rathian or Hunt-a-thon monsters.
  • Number of tickets required to forge or upgrade: 20

• Fortune Dragon Fans (Dual Blades)
  • Element: Dragon
  • Skill: Divine Blessing
    • Effect: Chance of reducing damage received from a monster’s attack.
  • Required Ticket: LNY 2024 Dual Blades Ticket
    • Obtainable through slaying Pink Rathian or Hunt-a-thon monsters.
  • Number of tickets required to forge or upgrade: 20

Note that you will need to have completed Chapter 2 to be able to forge a Hammer or Dual Blades.
