Netflix has picked up Monster Hunter Legends of the Guild, announcing a new release date for the animated feature.
In a new trailer, they announced that Monster Hunter Legends of the Guild will release August 12th on Netflix.
As previously suspected by the only promotional image released for it, Legends of the Guild will revolve around the Ace Hunters from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, specifically Aidan, who players may know better as the Ace Cadet and Excitable A-Lister.
The movie shows how Aidan joins the Ace Hunters, after their paths cross when a Lunastra is headed to destroy young Aidan’s village. Meeting the hunters, he learns about what it means to be one of them, and it looks like the movie will be touching more on the “balance of nature” aspect that’s never really been the main focus of the Monster Hunter games, although it’s always been mentioned.
While the trailer shows many monsters from 4Ultimate, it looks like there’s probably been some sort of rewrite, since the Nerscylla that showed grand prominence in the first image is entirely absent from the trailer, likely having been replaced by the Lunastra.
It was rumored that we’d be seeing the movie this year, after several months ago when the film’s IMDB page was updated to give it a 2021 release date.
This is the second Monster Hunter title to come to Netflix, after the Monster Hunter movie debuted on the platform just this month.
