A new photo of Monster Hunter, the upcoming live action adaptation of the game, has surfaced. The photo features Milla Jovovich as Artemis, the main lead, and Tony Jaa as the Hunter.
Screen Gems has also revealed the official plot sypnosis of the movie. It states, “Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.”
Judging from the photo, Tony Jaa’s outfit looks to be based off the Field Team Leader from Monster Hunter: World. His character carries the Giant Jawblade, a Great Sword, and the Great Hunter’s Bow. On the other hand, Milla Jovovich wears what looks to be an armor similar to the Odogaron armor. On her back are two unknown Dual Blades as well as carrying a slinger on her arm and a carving knife on her thigh.
Director Paul W.S. Anderson and Jovovich have worked on other Capcom related live action movies (Resident Evil). Other than Jovovich and Jaa, Monster Hunter also stars Ron Pearlman, Meagan Good, Clifford “T.I.” Harris Jr. and Diego Boneta.
