The Monogatari series is making a comeback as Off Season and Monster Season are getting an anime adaptation that’s set to premiere in 2024.
The announcement of the anime adaptations were initially teased by Aniplex as two mystery projects when they posted the letters “O” and “M” on Aniplex-branded websites; it turns out that the Monogatari anime will be continuing with an adaptation of the series’ Off Season and Monster Season light novels.
An accompanying trailer that showed off a teaser of the upcoming anime adaptations was revealed, and studio Shaft will returning to work on the projects, with Akiyuki Shinbo being chief director, while Shinbo being in charge of series composition, and Akio Watanabe being the character designer and chief animation director.
Off Season refers to a collection of side stories focusing on the different characters from the Monogatari series, while Monster Season tells the story of the main protagonist, Koyomi Araragi’s university life.
Monogatari is a light novel series written by Nisi Oisin and illustrated by Vofan, with the series starting serialisation in 2006.
The Off Season light novel features a total of four arcs being: Orokamonogatari, Wazamonogatari, Nademonotagari, and Musubimonogatari.
Meanwhile, the Monster Season light novel consists of: Shinobumonogatari, Yoimonogatari, Amarimonogatari, Ougimonogatari, and Shinomonogatari Parts 1 and 2.
