Idolmaster: SideM has announced the end of service for its mobile / browser-based game. Considering the fact that the mechanically similar sister game of Cinderella Girls had also earlier announced its end of service, this news is unlikely to be very surprising.

The announcement made on its official Twitter states that this version of Idolmaster: SideM will end service on 5 January 2023, 14:00 JST. Having launched in February 2014, it was pretty close to celebrating its 9th year anniversary. As you might expect, in-app purchases will also cease following the 6 December 2022 maintenance.
The Twitter account will then be refurbished into a general official SideM brand account from 9 November 2022, 17:00 JST. From there, they will be releasing information regarding events, campaigns and merchandise, asking fans to look forward to the upcoming announcements and to continue supporting them.
In the lead up to the end of service, the game is having a “We are 315!!!” campaign for a variety of freebies and discounted gacha until purchases are halted.
Similarly to Cinderella Girls, this shut down does not apply to the SideM rhythm game, which has the subtitle of Growing Stars. That game has its dedicated official Twitter for you to catch up on related news regarding this specific branch of the franchise.
