Mob Psycho 100: Psychic Battle, the Mob Psycho 100 mobile game, has launched for Android and iOS devices! This action turn-based battle game would be one to try for fans of ONE’s manga turned anime series. Everyone’s favourite son boy Mob can move around on the overworld and hub area, with some things able to be interacted with.
Story beats feel like they take cues and pieces from the anime, and their voice actors certainly return to reprise their roles. The models’ movements can feel a little stilted, which is a shame. During transition scenes/cutscenes, messages from other users can scroll by, which can be distracting for those who dislike it.
Battle itself is easy enough. Characters will take their turns, starting higher in the queue depending on their speed. There are several roles of characters with corresponding skill sets, with some degree of customization. You can swap them out when you learn new ones for that layer of strategy.
When Mob gets hit or his teammates go down, he can access his signature 100% mode, transforming all his skills and animations, and is certainly very powerful. Auto battle is locked behind clearing chapter 2, for those who are concerned.
There is of course, the gacha. You can pull characters of varying rarity, which can then be further upgraded into higher star levels. Apart from the characters, you’ll be able to have pets, but these are locked until you progress a little further. There are a few things that are gated behind a certain amount of progress, so your initial impressions could make or break your opinion to continue playing the game.
If you’d just like to play around with Mob and friends, then maybe give Mob Psycho 100: Psychic Battle a shot, or if you’re just curious about the game launched based on a popular property.
