The Ministry of Youth and Sports welcomes the return of ESL Gaming with ESL One Malaysia 2022. It marks the third iteration of the international Dota 2 event in Malaysia, in line with the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for Esports Development 2020 – 2025 to cultivate a sustainable esports ecosystem with growth opportunities and diversity for stakeholders at all levels.
“The local esports community has managed to put Malaysia’s mark on the world’s biggest esports stages. From our esports athletes’ recent success in the Commonwealth Games and SEA Games, to our Malaysian representatives competing in ESL One Malaysia 2022 and other professional tournaments both local and global, I hope to see the continuous and sustainable growth of the esports industry and will continue supporting our flag bearers.”

Expect three days of adrenaline pumping action with 12 of the world’s best teams going head-to-head for the coveted ESL One Malaysia 2022 title and a total prize pool of US$400,000 beginning 23 August 2022. 28 nations will be represented as players from around the globe converge in Malaysia for the tournament put together by a 400-strong team comprising locals and international support staff.

23 August will be the start of the group stage in a studio environment with teams competing for eight playoff spots in a best-of-two round-robin format. This will be followed by the live playoffs with best-of-three double elimination to a best-of-five finals.
