Minecraft is the newest franchise being represented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Steve From Minecraft is the newest fighter, available via Fighter Pass 2.
Even though Game director Sakurai gave a brief explanation of Steve, he didn’t elaborate too much on the character’s mechanics. Instead, he said they would have a closer look at right before Minecraft Live, on October 3rd.
From the trailer, Steve will be one of the more unique characters in the game’s roster, with a variety of Minecraft flavored moves.
Steve’s main mechanic will be placing blocks. These are solid objects that cannot be walked through. In the trailer, you can see Steve destroy these blocks too, getting items to craft better gear.
Several Steves can also work cooperatively, stacking their blocks on each other. The blocks can also be stacked horizontally, meaning you could very well build yourself a house and decide Smash just isn’t worth it.
You won’t just be playing as Steve, though. The character has several swappable skin, including Alex (the female player character). You can also see several of the other player skins in the game, like the tennis player and Kilt man. Additionally, you can also be a Zombie or Enderman.
