miHoYo has finally released a statement to the Genshin Impact Anniversary backlash, the source of a rocky week for the game company.
According to TheGamer, miHoYo had the following to say:
“We’ve been paying close attention on various feedbacks regarding Genshin Impact first anniversary,” the statement reads. “The opinions and feedbacks from players and fans are really valuable to us, and we wish all fans will continue the adventure and collect more cherished memories in Teyvat.”
“We’ve already come up with more celebrations including the coming Genshin Impact online concert and thank-you gifts to express our gratitude on players’ support all the way along.”
The statement comes following a massive PR disaster on miHoYo’s end, fueled by fans unhappy with how miHoYo has handled the Genshin Impact Anniversary. While the community has long-joked about miHoYo being reluctant to give too much of its premium currency to users, fans were secretly hoping for a surprise reveal of either a good bounty of currency similar to other games, or the ability to select a free character similar to what they did for their Lunar New Year events.
This lead to the game being massively review bombed on the app store, with fallout spreading to fellow miHoYo title Honkai Impact, as well as other totally unrelated mobile games seemingly caught in the crossfire as well.
