The Shanghai Municipal Party Committee will support miHoYo in developing Genshin Impact and Honkai into animated films.
In an article posted on Shanghai CPC Branch’s Official WeChat Account, the party announced that the CPC Branch of the Film Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee’s Publicity Department are conducting field researches on the “Three-Year Action Plan for Shanghai City of Film” Project.
The project aims to transform Shanghai into a “City of Film” within the next 3 years, turning it into a central hub for film production.
In line with this, the branch is conducting field researches and talking with major film, games, and special effect companies located in Shanghai, including Miracle Nikki developer Papergames, Tjsports, IMAX China and miHoYo.
The branch visited miHoYo’s motion capture laboratory and learned about the technologies used in their production process such as real-time motion capture and digitization, as well as 3D digital character model animation production.
Subsequently, the branch held a symposium with Hoyoverse, focusing on introducing the goals and key tasks of building Shanghai into a “City of Films” over the next three years.
The Film Department has announced that they will help miHoYo better participate in making Shanghai into a hub for film creation by supporting the development of animated films for two of their original IPs, Genshin Impact and Honkai. They hope that more gamers and players will also become film audiences in the future.
