Mihoyo Documentary Reveals That Honkai Impact 3rd Took Twice As Long To Make As Originally Planned

The documentary on Honkai Impact 3rd has revealed that the game went beyond its expected development time.

The Game Producer says, “The game development took much longer than we expected. At first, we thought 8 months would be enough, or a year at most. But it turned out that we spent nearly two years on it.”

The documentary also revealed that even after its release, Honkai Impact 3rd still faced multiple issues before becoming the success story it is today.

“From the launch day to the Spring Festival next year, the Daily Active Users of Honkai Impact 3rd halved” said the Producer.

Back then it was natural for a game to start its decline after it reached its peak, however the developers of Honkai Impact 3rd did not want to fall into that same pitfalls. With no other options available, focusing on Honkai Impact 3rd was the only way.

The developers of Honkai Impact 3rd wondered about what exactly Honkai Impact 3rd would need to become their dream game.

“To that end, we must have a good story. Well it makes little sense when you expect an action game to tell a good story. An action game isn’t supposed to be compatible with story-telling. That said we decided to build the Honkai-verse to make narrative efforts, or at least try to move in this direction. Why? because we have faith in the power of stories”

The developers eventually found a direction that they were comfortable and confident in following which lead to Honkai Impact 3rd becoming the success it is today.

The video ends with a heartfelt message from one of the developers saying, “Remember, fight for all that is beautiful in this world, we came into the world crying but we walk to the future smiling”
