Microsoft has announced that they are bringing the Xbox Wireless Controller to Southeast Asia with Malaysia, Indonesia, and The Philippines being the first countries they will be expanding into, shortly followed by Thailand and Vietnam.
According to Lowyat, Microsoft is planning to bring more Xbox products and accessories to the Southeast Asia region following the successful launch of Xbox PC Game Pass last year. The Wireless controllers will be the first of these products.
The Xbox Wireless controller can be used with the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10/11 PCs, and mobile devices. The version launching in Malaysia will be the base color Xbox Wireless Controllers which come in black or white.
At this point, Xbox products have only been officially released in Singapore among the ASEAN countries. It has not been confirmed when the Xbox Wireless Controller will launch in Malaysia or other SEA countries. Microsoft has however said they will reveal more details about the product soon.
The Xbox Series X|S is the only one of the big three consoles that are not officially distributed in SEA. In order to get the console, you need to import it from either Singapore or Hong Kong. Microsft bringing more Xbox products to the region could lead to the console launching in SEA down the line but nothing has been confirmed.
Microsoft has launched Game Pass on PC however which is a far more popular platform amongst the local gaming communities.
